THEME

Theme: a theme is a thought or idea the author presents to the reader that may be deep, difficult to understand, message or moral we can take away from the story.

1.EX: the instinct to live by rules, act peacefully, follow moral commands, and value the good of the group against the instinct desires ace violent to obtain power over other. 

2.EX: boys on the island progress from well behaved orderly children longing for rescue to cruel bloodthirsty hunters who have no desire to return to civilization.

3.EX: fail to understand these wise children and instead of trying to learn from them, violently lash out at them, that the boys are sacrificed. 

4.EX: the boys use masks to cover their identity and this allows them to kill and later to murder. the loss of a personal name personifies the loss of selfhood and identity.
